Herbal Therapies can include herbal teas and other natural herbal formulas that help you relax and unwind or support good health in other specific ways. Dr. Advani will help you choose the right herbs and methods of use.
Classical Chinese Teas
Herbology is the Chinese art of combining medicinal herbs and is considered to be one of the more important modalities utilized in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Chinese herbs have been used for centuries to treat the imbalances of the body and to heal it by treating the root source of the disease.
Each herbal medicine prescription is a combination of many herbs tailored for the individual patient. These ingredients are derived from all parts of the plant (leaf, stem, flower, root) and also from animals and mineral sources.
Forms of Herbal Tea Therapy
Herbal tea formulas come in a variety of forms: raw, granules, powders and patent. The raw formulas are decocted and taken as a tea. This is the most effective method for acute syndromes. Single herbs in powder form are combined into a prescription and can be taken with water.
Patents, or ready-made formulas, are in pill or capsule form. Generally, I recommend acupuncture for the first several treatments without the herbs to see how the patient responds to this alone. In subsequent treatments, I may recommend medicinal herbal teas to enhance and extend the effects of the acupuncture.
